As temperatures fall across the province, Ontario Provincial Police are reminding motorists to get ready for winter driving conditions.
Drivers are encouraged to install winter tires, schedule vehicle maintenance, and check that wipers, defrosters and heating systems are working properly. An emergency kit with blankets, a flashlight and non-perishable snacks is also recommended.
Police say slippery roads and poor visibility call for extra caution. Motorists should slow down, increase following distance, and clear all snow from their vehicles before driving.
Before travelling, drivers can check road and weather conditions through Ontario 511 and the Ministry of Transportation’s Traveller Information Service, or tune in to 104.9 myFM for updates.
