The City of Pembroke is headed for disaster!
Mock disaster that is and it’s going to take a co-ordinated effort to see how the city will fare in the unlikely event of a real city wide emergency.
Pembroke Fire Chief Scott Selle held a meeting this Wednesday morning with the heads of various City and private entities all of whom would be affected should a real emergency befall the city to discuss how they would all work together to manage the situation.
On April 22nd of 2026, a mock ammonia leak is to occur at The PMC which will trigger a city wide emergency setting into motion all of the pieces of the puzzle that would become involved should the unthinkable actually happen.
Representatives from The City of Pembroke Public Works, Pembroke Regional Hospital and Algonquin College, among other concerns all gathered for this initial meeting as an introduction to the exercise. Questions arose as to how to properly inform the public all the way to managing the intake and treatment of mock casualties and everything in between.
The next meeting will be taking place in early 2026 to further hone the game plan in preparation for the actual day. More on this event will be shared as soon as it becomes available.
