The Blue jays may not have achieved World Series glory on Friday night but for Mike Hemmingsen, just being there was glory enough.
Mike is a soldier stationed out of Trenton who served in Petawawa for a time and he was one of a few lucky ones chosen to unfurl the Canadian Flag across The Rogers Centre field at Friday night’s game six. Mike explains how he got there:
Mike explained that there were a handful of other bases that sent representatives like him to carry out a duty that is sacred to so many who have had the opportunity to take the field in that manner:
As much as Mike was focused on the task at hand it was impossible not to be taken in by the enormity and intensity of the sold out crowd as the Jays stood on the edge of World Series victory:
Mikes last words to us before he took to the field are hopeful:
Go Jays Go!
