Rhythms of Giving is a fundraiser that was created by Brian Abdallah to benefit Blanche Ducey , Owner of Got You In Mind Thrift Store. After she experienced a life altering event, Blanche tells myFM how the store came to be:
Blanche is very well known throughout the community for her generosity often in the face of her own severe adversity.
On Saturday November 15th, Fitzy’s Sports Bar at 150 Peter Street will welcome a handful of local bands and a whole lot of community spirit as the 5th annual event kicks off at 7PM.
Pembroke Deputy Mayor Brian Abdallah is the principal organizer of the event and has been for the past 5 years in partnership with Fitzy’s. Brian and Blanche go way back as he tells us:
Blanche continues to support anyone in need of clothing or maybe just an ear and a hug.
Abdallah wants to be very clear as to the reasons for the fundraiser and emphasized that every penny from this particular event is going to go where it is desperately needed:
Blanche’s philosophy and the reasons for wanting to keep the store open are very simple:
Tickets are 10$ for an evening of great local music, raffles, prizes and a chance to support one of the truly great heroes of this community. When it comes to describing what she does, Blanche keeps her messages clear and concise:
“It’s not a hand out for them, it’s a hand up…”
