A community tree-planting event in Pembroke brought new life to Pansy Patch Park on Sept. 25, with 22 saplings finding permanent homes.
More than 60 volunteers took part, including Algonquin College forestry students, youth from BGC Renfrew County, and local horticulture enthusiasts, working alongside staff from Canadian Nuclear Laboratories and the Pembroke Horticultural Society.
The planting, part of National Forestry Week, aims to restore and strengthen the area’s tree cover, which has been heavily impacted by the emerald ash borer, and to ensure a healthy, sustainable forest for future generations.
