The Pembroke Fire Department says a family of 10 has been displaced following a house fire Sunday morning. Crews were called to Wallace Street shortly after 10 a.m. and found flames at the back of the home spreading quickly toward a bedroom and attic.
Thirteen firefighters and 10 volunteers responded with five fire apparatus. While initial reports suggested someone was trapped, it was later confirmed all residents escaped safely. Working smoke alarms alerted the family, officials said.
One person was taken to hospital for assessment and two others were treated on scene. The home sustained significant smoke and heat damage. The Canadian Red Cross is assisting the family, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
