Downtown Pembroke and the city’s waterfront buzzed with music, laughter, and dazzling performances as the Ottawa Valley Buskerfest made its return this past weekend. In its second year, the festival is quickly becoming one of the community’s most exciting new traditions, bringing world-class talent and a sense of celebration to the streets of Pembroke.
Crowds meandered through closed off Pembroke Street West and the side streets as jugglers, face painters, musicians and vendors dazzled crowds on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Deputy Mayor Brian Abdallah called it a proud day for the City:
Presented by Tanya Avery and Jessica Waiting, sales representatives with Aspire Realty Century 21, the 2025 Ottawa Valley Buskerfest ran Friday evening and Saturday all day until 6PM. Organizers said this year’s edition delivered even more variety, spectacle, and family-friendly fun.
Buskerfest volunteers Shawna Dejong and her daughter were taking a break enjoying ice cream when I asked them what it meant to be involved in such a special community event:
Local businesses were also part of the action, with sidewalk sales, food vendors, and artisan stalls lining the downtown core. Organizers hoped the event would not only entertain but also encourage residents and visitors to shop local and experience Pembroke’s vibrant downtown. Packed restaurant patios and busy shops proved that correct once and for all.
Maegan Adams who had been busy for weeks organizing for this event marvelled at the crowds as they took it all in and she had this to say about the event:
By all accounts this years attendance eclipsed last years draw and it looks like the Pembroke Buskerfest is going to remain one of the top highlights of the year for valley residents and visitors alike.
