At a signing ceremony held last week at the Chalk River Laboratories, Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) officially welcomed EnergySolutions Canada Corporation (EnergySolutions) as its newest Strategic Delivery Partner. With operations around the globe, including licensed facilities in Ontario, EnergySolutions is a leading provider of radioactive waste management, decontamination and decommissioning, and nuclear services. Its offerings include the safe transportation, processing, recycling, and disposal of radioactive materials.
As a Strategic Delivery Partner (SDP), EnergySolutions joins a select group of organizations that are critical to the success of CNL’s Vision 2030 strategy. This initiative includes the ongoing revitalization of the Chalk River Laboratories campus and the enhancement of CNL’s capabilities and capacity. With a growing workload ahead, these partnerships help CNL maintain a strong and reliable supply chain to deliver on its commitments to Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL) and the Government of Canada.
Strategic Delivery Partnership Agreements enable CNL to plan and execute its program of work with greater confidence, while also advancing broader organizational goals. As with previous agreements, the partnership emphasizes the use of local resources—including the hiring of vendors based in the Ottawa Valley and, where possible, Indigenous contractors.
In alignment with CNL’s commitment to sustainable operations, all work carried out under the agreement must integrate environmental stewardship. This includes the use of environmentally responsible materials, practices, and organizations, ensuring the work minimizes its impact on future generations.
