The “104 Hearts” Campaign officially wrapped up Thursday with a cheque presentation from myFM to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 72 in Pembroke.
Through the unbelievably generous support of so many private citizens and businesses in the community, a total of $16,773 was raised towards the installation of a commemorative crosswalk near the cenotaph due to be installed later this year.
Stan Halliday, President of the Pembroke RCL Branch says this is far more than anyone at The Legion could have expected:
We’ve really learned a lot about the Legion over the span of this campaign and the one thing that stands out the most is the overwhelming sense of belonging that every member of The Legion exuded towards us and everyone they encountered.
We are truly blessed to have such an organization in our midst and we wish everyone who welcomed us so openly nothing but the very best going forward.
President Halliday had this to say:
A heart felt thank you to everyone who participated in this campaign.
