The week long “104 Hearts” for the Royal Canadian Legion campaign culminated in a BBQ at the Legion this past Friday where organizers, Legion and community members gathered to celebrate.
The campaign was organized as a means of assisting the RCL in reaching their $10,000 benchmark in order to have a commemorative cross walk installed at the corner of Mackay Street and Pembroke Street adjacent to the Cenotaph. The Legion had collected nearly half of those needed funds when myFM stepped up to help get them over the top.
Lead Organizer of the campaign myFM General Manager Melissa Siegel had nothing but glowing praise for everyone who pitched in:
Dignitaries such as Pembroke Mayor Ron Gervais and Deputy-Mayor Brian Abdallah turned up to show their support as did MPP Billy Denault and MP Cheryl Gallant, all staunch supporters of the RCL.
All week leading up to Friday’s BBQ community members were flocking to the Julien Street myFM station to drop off their $104.90 and have their picture taken. Many opted to simply donate to a really worthy cause and Siegel says she is eager to see the final tally:
If you still want to contribute to The RCL not just for the cross walk but because you simply care to, the link below will take you to our donation page. We will let everyone know the grand total when it becomes available so stay tuned!
Melissa has the final word here:
Thank you again to everyone who got involved!
