Many RCL Members will tell you that one of the biggest perks of being a Member is the fact that you can really enjoy spending time with other members just having a drink, playing a hand of cards or discussing the news of the day.
In addition to advocating for veterans’ rights and remembering their sacrifices, Legions also engage in community outreach and fundraising, with branches acting as gathering places and supporting local events.
Judy Conway is the Public Relations Officer for Pembroke Branch #72 and Judy’s main function is keeping a steady flow of entertainment on hand for various functions the Chapter holds. Judy has lots of places she goes to make sure the word gets out:
Gillian Fletcher is also tasked with keeping things hopping at the Chapter with functions she calls “Ways and Means”. Gillian explains:
Weekends are especially best at the Legion with a number of activities usually booked for those who are looking for a little relaxing fun:
It’s really a matter of offering activities that people want, says Fletcher and there are lots of things that people are asking for on a regular basis:
Organizers like Fletcher and Conway are always looking for new ideas to keep things fresh and interesting at their Chapter.
