The Summers’ Annual Fishing Derby is right around the corner and founder/organizer Mike Summers hopes this one will be the biggest and best yet. For over 30 years, this derby has been a staple in the community and Mike says it has humble family beginnings:
The cost is $40 per team and teams consist of at least two adults and however many kids can fit safely into each boat. The tournament runs for one day on Saturday August 9th from 8AM until 4PM and it kicks off from the cottage at 1187 Traymore Road. You register that day of the event or you can call Mike directly at 613-639-5671 to pre registered if you wish.
The proceeds over the years have gone to various charities that have been near and dear to Mike and his family but this year its a bit more personal than ever before. Mike explains:
Mike is always grateful for the many sponsors that have stepped up this year and over the past year and he adds that there is a special added bonus every year for one lucky kid and this year is no exception:
Come on out on August 9th and toss a line in for a more than worthy cause and a chance at a brand new bike as well. Good luck!
