Three people have been arrested and face numerous weapons and drug-related charges after police responded to reports of a person chasing another with a long gun in a Pembroke neighbourhood.
Just after 10 p.m. on July 9, Upper Ottawa Valley OPP were called to Victoria Street, where a brief foot pursuit led to the arrest of three individuals. Officers seized a firearm, ammunition, and a quantity of suspected methamphetamine, ecstasy, fentanyl, and drug paraphernalia.
Nigel Reis, 38, faces a long list of charges including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a loaded prohibited firearm, uttering threats, and multiple counts related to firearms prohibition orders and drug offences.
Corey Popkie, 38, has been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of prohibited ammunition, and four counts of possession of a Schedule I substance.
Benjamin Dalton Leclaire, 29, is charged with two counts of failing to comply with release conditions and possession of a Schedule I substance.
Police also recovered a vehicle, bicycle, and other items linked to prior thefts. The investigation is ongoing. There were no reported injuries.
All three remain in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on July 10, 2025.
