A 75-year-old Pembroke former Doctor has been arrested and charged in connection with alleged sexual offences involving youth under the age of 16.
The Ontario Provincial Police say the charges follow an investigation launched in early June by the Upper Ottawa Valley Crime Unit. The investigation began after police received reports of inappropriate sexual conduct involving a local resident and minors.
On Thursday, Brian Baxter of Pembroke was arrested and charged with two counts of sexual interference and two counts of sexual assault on a person under 16.
Police say Baxter remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on July 8th.
In a release, the OPP emphasized that sexual offences can be reported to police no matter how long ago they occurred and encouraged any potential victims or witnesses to come forward.
