The hottest part of the year is on the way, and local police are worried about our fuzzy friends.
The OPP is urging pet owners to leave them at home as temperatures continue to rise, noting that they’ve already begun receiving calls from concerned citizens who have found pets left unattended in vehicles.
Parked cars can quickly reach deadly temperatures, even on relatively mild days with the car parked in the shade and the windows open, putting your pets at risk of heatstroke, brain damage, and even death.
If you can’t take your animal with you when you leave your car, leave them at home where they are safe. To report animal welfare concerns, including an animal left unattended in a vehicle, call Provincial Animal Welfare Services at 1-833-9-Animal or your local detachment.
