Despite the rough weather, the annual Valour Fun Fair proved to be a fantastic success. On June 4th, the Petawawa Civic Centre was filled with students, families, and community members, all coming together to support the school and its students.
Sharon Wagner, Kindergarten teacher at Valour and event organizer, was thrilled to see the community show up in full support of the students—despite a last-minute venue change. She tells myFM that over 600 people attended, enjoying a wide range of activities including games, delicious food, obstacle courses, prizes, a petting zoo, and much more.
The fair raised over $4,500, and Wagner explained that the Parent-Teacher Council uses these funds to support student activities, events, and other school initiatives.
That said, the Parent-Teacher Council has only a few members, which makes organizing these amazing events more challenging and stressful. Wagner tells myFM they are always eager to welcome new parents to join the council and get involved.
If you’re interested in helping out or joining the Parent-Teacher Council, Valour JK–12 School in Petawawa would love to hear from you.
