The Renfrew County Catholic District School Board (RCCDSB) has released the results of a workplace equity audit, highlighting its ongoing commitment to fairness and inclusion for all staff members. The audit marks a key step in the Board’s mission to build an inclusive Catholic learning community rooted in unconditional love and the education of hearts and minds in the way of Christ.
The equity audit focused on identifying barriers within the Board’s employment systems and practices. It included a detailed review of human resources policies, hiring files from 2022 to 2023, and direct input from employees. More than 400 staff members, representing about 36 percent of RCCDSB’s workforce, participated through focus groups, interviews with senior leaders and union representatives, and an online survey.
The findings revealed several areas where the Board can improve. These include diversifying its workforce, fostering more respectful and inclusive work environments, updating policies to ensure fairness, and improving accessibility and support for employees who require accommodations.
Director of Education Mark Searson expressed appreciation to staff who contributed to the process. He emphasized that the audit is more than just a report—it is a critical tool that will guide the Board’s next steps. He noted that the feedback received has created a clear path forward for meaningful and measurable change.
In response to the audit, RCCDSB is developing a detailed action plan. This plan will outline specific improvements, set clear timelines, and assign responsibilities to ensure that the recommendations are carried out effectively. The goal is to create a workplace that is welcoming, inclusive, and equitable for everyone.
The audit report has been shared with all RCCDSB staff, and the Board encourages continued engagement and collaboration. By working together, the RCCDSB aims to build a stronger, more inclusive environment for both staff and students across the school community.
