The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment is investigating an attempted break and enter at a home on Market Street in Pembroke.
The incident happened on May 16, between 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. A man first went to the front door of the home but was turned away by the people inside. About 30 minutes later, the same man was seen trying to enter the home again — this time through a basement window at the back of the house. The man ran away after being noticed by the residents.
Police are now looking for a man described as being in his 50s. He has short white hair, is balding on top, and has a long white beard. At the time, he was wearing a black sleeveless shirt.
The OPP is asking anyone with information or video footage from the area during the time of the incident to come forward. People can contact the UOV OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Pembroke/Renfrew County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Tips can also be shared online at www.valleytips.ca.
