There’s nothing like a good old fashioned spelling bee to keep kids’ minds sharp and Julie Coghill, owner of the Pembroke No Frills, knows this all too well. With four kids of her own, education awareness is crucial to the lives of her and her kids.
The ‘Healthy Foods, Healthy Minds’ Spelling Bee, which is in support of the Renfrew County Community Poverty Action Network (CPAN), is set for Sunday June 1 at Festival Hall à L’Équinoxe and kicks off at 1 p.m. Brought to you by myFM, Steven and Julie’s No Frills, Algonquin College and The Brick Pembroke, the event promises to be a memorable one for young spellers and parents alike.
The event is the brain child of Coghill and one of the main messages she sends her kids is always to strive for the best you can be no matter what the task:
She is often asked how folks can contribute to this event and to kids in need in general and the answer is simpler than you might think:
Come on out and support CPAN and enjoy all the fun that a spelling bee can be!
