A Pembroke resident is facing impaired driving charges after police responded to a report at a restaurant drive-thru on Pembroke Street East.
On May 3, around 9:40 p.m., officers from the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment were called to investigate a possible impaired driver in Pembroke. Police quickly located the vehicle and the driver at the restaurant.
During the investigation, officers used a roadside screening device to assess the driver’s condition. The individual was then taken to the detachment for further testing.
As a result, 37-year-old Christopher Nagora of Pembroke has been charged with operation while impaired by alcohol and operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams.
Following the charges, Nagora’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. He has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on June 3.
Police continue to remind the public of the dangers and consequences of impaired driving, encouraging everyone to make safe choices behind the wheel.
