As river levels in Pembroke reach minor flood status, the City is taking steps to help residents protect their properties. The Ottawa River is rising slowly due to ongoing snowmelt in the northern areas, and water levels are expected to continue increasing over the coming days.
To assist property owners, the City of Pembroke is providing access to sand and sandbags. Residents who need sandbags can request them during regular business hours, Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., by contacting the City of Pembroke Operations Department at 613-735-6821 ext. 1409.
For after-hours requests, residents should call the Pembroke Fire Department at 613-735-6821 ext. 1201.
When making a request, residents are asked to provide their name, address, and an estimate of how many sandbags they need. This helps the City ensure enough supplies are available and distributed quickly.
The City encourages residents in low-lying or flood-prone areas to prepare early. Having sandbags in place can help reduce damage during high water events. Pembroke officials will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as needed.
