The Pembroke Community Watch Program is heading into its sixth year and organizer Brian Abdallah says that the effort continues to be a viable neighborhood safety mechanism for Pembroke. With eight watch zones currently in place the overall goal, says Abdallah, is to create a safe and welcoming community. He tells myFM how the program first came about:
In partnership with the Pembroke Police Services Board and the Pembroke Detachment of the OPP, the program seeks to help reduce crime in the community as well as a great way to get to know your neighbors and other community agencies.
On Monday May, 5th at 7PM the next meeting of the Community Watch program will take place at the Pembroke Firehall on International Drive. Abdallah hopes that people who aren’t familiar with the program will come out and join those who are already involved in learning more.
A guest speaker from Crime Stoppers will be there to share the latest news as well as a representative from the local drug advocacy Committee. To subscribe to the email list send a message to pembrokewatch@gmail.com.
