If you happen to find yourself at the corner of River Rd and Deacon Street you’ll notice a garden bed that’s there to help provide food for St Joseph Food Bank as well as a handful of families in Pembroke. This is one of a total of 24 garden beds in the city and each garden requires seeds, soil and tending and that requires funds.
As a means of partially providing these funds the 4th annual Rain Barrel Sale is kicking off this spring, and Deputy mayor Brian Abdallah helps to explain what those blue and yellow signs we’ve been seeing around town are all about:
Abdallah says that they need to sell at least 75 barrels which have already been pre purchased in order to reach their goal and he says that they are just about half way there.
There’s been no shortage of precipitation in the area this spring already so the sooner you get your barrel the sooner you can become part of the gardening solution!
Remember, the campaign ends on May 24th and for more information go to rainbarrel.ca
