The Heroes Run for Healthcare, proudly presented by Canadian Nuclear Laboratories, is back on Sunday, May 4th for it’s fourth year in Downtown Pembroke! This exciting charity event includes the 2K Superhero Run for kids aged 12 and under, sponsored by Bradley Law, and a 5K timed run, brought to you by MacEwen’s.
Leigh Costello, Community Fundraising Specialist for the Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation (PRHF), shares, “This year’s event will support the Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation’s highest priority equipment needs.” Leigh tells myFM that she is really optimistic about this years participation:
Event Chair Scott Coombes adds, “There will be fantastic prizes to be won for your fundraising efforts!” Participants who raise $100 or more will be entered into a draw to win a one-year family membership to the Best Western Pembroke Pool. Plus, the top overall fundraiser will receive a $500 prize. “We encourage everyone to use the online fundraising tools to easily share and gather pledges,” Coombes says.
Costello says that the monetary goal this year is the most ambitious it’s ever been and she knows that it’s achievable as this has been a favourite fundraiser for so many in past years:
Tammy Blackmore, organizer of the kids’ run, invites young heroes to join the fun: “Put on your superhero costume, embrace your super powers, and help make a difference! Meet Batman, Superman, Spiderman, Supergirl, and many more along the 2K route. Kids will receive a bag at the start line to collect treats from their favourite heroes and will be awarded a superhero cape upon completing their mission!”

Please Note:
Pembroke Street West will be closed between MacKay Street and Agnes Street from 7 AM to 12 PM on Sunday, May 4th for the event.
