The City of Pembroke is excited to continue the Snow Angels initiative this winter, especially as we are now halfway through the season and just experienced a significant snowstorm. The Snow Angels program helps residents who need assistance with snow removal by matching them with volunteers. This is especially beneficial for older adults, people with disabilities, those with injuries, or parents with young children who may have difficulty clearing snow from their driveways and walkways.
Mayor Ron Gervais highlighted the importance of the program: “Clearing snow can be a barrier for many people. The inability to remove snow can affect someone’s ability to stay active in the community and live independently at home. Our goal is to help remove this barrier for Pembroke residents this winter.”
The Snow Angels program remains completely volunteer-based and free for those who need help. Residents can still register for assistance or sign up to volunteer through the Snow Angels Canada website. Though the program is not directly run by the City of Pembroke, the community’s support continues to be vital. For questions or registration, residents can contact the City’s Operations Department at 613-735-6821 ext. 1409 or visit the Pembroke Public Library, either in person or by calling 613-732-8844.
With the recent snowstorm, this initiative is more important than ever, providing a way for the community to support one another during the winter months and ensuring that everyone can stay safe and independent in their homes. To find out more about this program head to SnowAngels Canada.
