A Saskatchewan man is facing multiple charges, including assault and weapons offences, after an incident at a downtown Pembroke store. On February 8, at approximately 9:45 a.m., officers from the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an assault with a weapon. The suspect had fled the scene but was arrested shortly after on a nearby street. Police also seized an edged weapon as part of their investigation.
The investigation revealed that the attacker had assaulted one victim with an edged weapon, causing minor injuries. Additionally, three other individuals in the area were threatened, with one also physically assaulted.
As a result of the incident, 40-year-old Brett Fleury from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, has been charged with several Criminal Code offences, including:
- Assault with a weapon
- Assault (two counts)
- Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm (four counts)
Fleury was held for a bail hearing and remains in custody until his next court appearance on February 11, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke. The investigation is ongoing.
