The forecast across most of Ontario is shaping up decently for people to get out and savour Snowmobile Safety Week.
That’s according to OPP East Region Constable Jason DeJong, who will join his fellow SAVE Team officers on our local trails to make sure everyone’s enjoying themselves responsibly this week.
Ottawa Valley riders might have to wait through a large amount of snow expected to drop between Wednesday evening and Thursday afternoon, but should still be able to make use of the Algonquin and K & P Trails as conditions clear.
DeJong says he and other officers will be keeping an eye on trail speed limits, proper helmet usage, drunk driving, and sharing the full width of the trail whenever possible.
He also asks you to be aware of the risks when it comes to riding on frozen waterways.
The Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs offers an interactive trail guide for up-to-date information on conditions and unsafe areas throughout the snowmobile season.
