A 29-year-old Pembroke resident is facing a driver’s licence suspension and multiple charges following a traffic stop in the City of Pembroke on January 26.
The driver was pulled over after appearing to avoid a RIDE program checkpoint. Police used a Roadside Screening Device, which showed the driver was in the warning range for alcohol. During the stop, officers also seized a quantity of cannabis.
As a result, the driver was issued a 7-day licence suspension and charged under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and the Cannabis Control Act (CCA) for the following offences:
- Fail to notify change of address
- Drive with cannabis readily available
- Drive with cannabis in open original packaging
The Upper Ottawa Valley OPP is dedicated to keeping roads safe, and RIDE programs will continue at all times of day and night.
