A local family has offered to donate land to build a multi-sports plex in Pembroke. Darcy and Lindsay Smith own Laurentian Valley Grains and Smiths Storage and recently offered Pembroke City Council 5-10 acres of land near Home Depot to construct the facility to serve Pembroke and Laurentian Valley. Darcy says this is something they know is needed.
Darcy did mention that he understands nothing happens overnight.
Darcy told council that even if they don’t take the land, he’s happy the conversation is even happening.
The Smiths did create a very basic blueprint of how the land could be used but is not mandatory.
