The 2 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group (2 CMBG) is set to conduct its annual Iron Warrior 2024 competition on the mornings of August 23 and 24, 2024. Local residents are advised to prepare for potential traffic disruptions and unusual sounds as competitors move along the designated route.
The 41st annual Iron Warrior competition will kick off with a single round of blank artillery fire at approximately 4 a.m. on August 23 and 7 a.m. on August 24. Residents living near Dundonald Hall should expect to hear the sounds of these rounds being fired.
This year’s competition route will take participants beyond the Garrison and through the town of Petawawa. To ensure the safety of both participants and the public, traffic control points will be established where competitors cross public roads. Residents can expect increased foot and vehicle traffic, especially along the Algonquin Trail, Victoria Street, Albert Street, Festubert Boulevard, and the Petawawa Point Beach area.
The public is urged to exercise caution and patience while traveling in these areas during the event.
