Renfrew native Carter Jarrett has his eyes set on one particular challenge coming up this Wednesday: conquering the “Longest Day of Golf.”
Jarrett, a business student at Southwestern Christian University, has returned stateside to join his teammates on the school’s golf team for a full 24-hour session at Wister, Oklahoma’s Wolf Mountain Golf Course.
He explains that the goal is for every player on the team to bring in $2,000 in pledges that will help the club’s spending account ahead of their upcoming trip to the national championship.
Jarrett adds that he expects the team to be on pace to play anywhere from 100 to 120 holes of golf by the end of the challenge, and he’s feeling confident about making five or six full trips around the course grounds this week following a recent test run.
He admits that he isn’t changing much about his preparations ahead of the Longest Day of Golf, committing to his regular routine and rest schedule with a few extra precautions to keep himself competitive with the rest of his team as the day wears on.
Donations are being handled through CashApp in the US, but Jarrett and mother Christine are accepting local donations until this Wednesday, July 31st, through e-transfer, which they will then send to the school through the app.
