The Township of Laurentian Valley is putting plans together for their annual Stafford Party in the Park. The big day is Saturday, July 27th from 10am until 3pm at Stafford Park.
The yearly event has a little something for everyone to enjoy including a vendor show, RY J’s Adventures bouncy castle, a BBQ lunch, fire department obstacle course and slip and slide for kids, raffles, Junior Gardeners Awards Ceremony, face painting, licenced event, splash pad, and new this year, a pickleball tournmanet for the community to enjoy! Pre-registration by July 19, 2024 is required for both the tournmanent and to be a vendor at the vendor market.
The event will kick off with the judging of the 8th Annual Junior Gardeners Competition, a competition that was open to all children who reside in and outside the Township. Youth ages 16 years of age or younger, put their green thumbs into action by trying to grow a plant over the course of a month. A big thank you to Sunset Nursery Garden Centre & Greenhouses, in particular Alastair Hugli, who will once again judge the competition. Kids had to pick up their plant and register by June 10, 2024 to take part in the competition. This year we have 155 kids registered for the competition.

· Ages 1 to 5 – Terry Mowat (Zinnia Flower)
· Ages 6 to 8 – Everlie Parr (Zinnia Flower)
· Ages 9 to 11 – Leah MacEwan (Cherry Tomato Plant)
· Ages 12 to 16 – Aaryanna Forget-Mask (Zinnia Flower)
How to participate in tournament/vendor market:
Pickleball Tournament:
· $25 registration fee per team (payment by E-Transfer to staffordparkrecreation@gmail.com
· Mixed Teams
· Doubles (2 per team)
· 2 Age Categories: 19-49 years old and 50+ years old
· 2 Competitive Levels: beginners (level 2.25-3) and competitive (level 3-4)
· Guaranteed at least 3 game
· Top 2 team championship per division
· 4 Divisions with a cap at 4 teams per division! First come first serve!
· Must have own paddle
· Prizes for Winners of each division!
· Starts at 12pm at Stafford Park located at 641 3rd Ave South
· Must pre-register by July 19, 2024
