On June 13th, Bishop Smith Catholic High School hosted the much-anticipated Destination Imagination Showcase, celebrating the creativity and teamwork of over 100 students and team managers from the Renfrew County Catholic District School Board (RCCDSB).
The event featured dynamic presentations where students demonstrated their engineering, technical, and improvisational skills. Teams participated in Instant Challenges designed to test their quick thinking, cohesion, and innovative problem-solving under time constraints.
“We are thrilled to see such an impressive display of talent and creativity from our students,” said April Laabs, committee member and teacher at Bishop Smith CHS. “The Destination Imagination program is a wonderful opportunity for students to develop critical skills in a fun and supportive environment.”
Participants showcased projects ranging from intricate engineering designs to imaginative skits, highlighting their preparation and teamwork. “We had so much fun working together as a team, preparing for the day and for our final skit. We were very proud of our tallest tower-making skills,” said student Abigail Gilbert-Zapotichny.
The event was more than just a competition; it was a celebration of learning and growth. Destination Imagination is a global educational program encouraging teams to explore creativity and problem-solving, providing invaluable experience in STEM, the arts, and service learning.
