The City of Pembroke is buzzing with excitement as nominations for the highly anticipated Civic and Youth Awards are now officially open! This marks a significant opportunity for community members to shine a spotlight on those individuals whose dedicated efforts have enriched Pembroke’s social fabric.
Megan Cavanagh, Recreation Programmer at the City of Pembroke’s Parks & Recreation Department, elaborated on the significance of these awards and what they entail.
The Youth Award Categories encompass a wide range of areas including Arts and Literature, Community Contributions, Leadership, Personal Courage, and Young Athlete achievements. Similarly, the Civic Award Categories recognize excellence in Arts and Culture, Community Service, acts of Good Samaritanism, outstanding contributions by Seniors, and the embodiment of the Spirit of Sport. Cavanagh highlights the nomination process.

Nominations are accepted until April 29th, 2024. To nominate someone, visit the City of Pembroke’s website for an online form or pick up a nomination form from various locations, including City Hall, the Parks and Recreation Office at the PMC Arena, or the Pembroke Library. Cavanagh stated that they will be choosing winners in the middle of May and calling them to let them know what award they won. The award ceremony will be held on June 3, 2024.
