Two local drivers in Pembroke are facing Criminal Code impaired driving charges following investigations by the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in two separate incidents.
On April 2, 2024, police responded to a report of a possible impaired driver in Pembroke, leading to the arrest of 35-year-old Krista Forster. Forster is charged with Operation while impaired – alcohol, Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus, and Having care or control of a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor. She was released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on April 30, 2024.
In another incident on April 10, 2024, a single-vehicle collision on Highway 17 led to the arrest of 23-year-old Rachel Burgess of Petawawa. Burgess is charged with Operation while impaired – alcohol, Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus, and Novice driver – BAC above zero. She was released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on May 7, 2024.
Both individuals had their driver’s licenses suspended for 90 days, and their vehicles were towed and impounded for seven days following the incidents.
