Three third-period goals gave the Pembroke Lumber Kings their third win in a row and moved the club to within two points of catching the Kemptville 73’s for the final playoff spot in the Central Canada Hockey League. Jayson Alegria, Charlie Blewitt, and Liam Cardiff scored for the Kings who are in the midst of a brutal end-of-season schedule as they try to make the post-season.
The game was played in front of a playoff atmosphere crowd of almost 1400 fans. Pembroke outshot Hawkesbury 33-25.
The Kings now face the Rockland Nationals in a make-up game on Monday, March 11th at the Pembroke Memorial Centre at 7 p.m. They then travel to Navan on Tuesday, March 12th where they will play the final period of a suspended game that the Grads led 3-0 after two periods. The teams will then play their regularly scheduled game.
On Wednesday, March 13th the Kings travel to Ottawa to take on the Junior Senators. On Friday, March 15th the Kings play in Smiths Falls and then on Sunday, March 17th the Kings close their regular season at home with an afternoon game at 2 p.m. against the Junior Senators.
Kemptville has completed its regular season. The 73’s have 54 points. The Kings have 52 points with six games remaining.
