The second-degree murder trial of a North Algona Wilberforce man resumed Feb. 12 in Pembroke court.
Brandon Lamoureux was charged with second-degree murder in the July 21, 2021 death of Gilbert Rumleskie, following an incident at the Pine Tree Motel in Eganville.
The trial began in August at the Superior Court of Justice in Pembroke and was most recently delayed in December when the Crown Attorney’s office requested an adjournment following the departure of the case’s lead prosecutor, who was appointed as an Ontario court judge.
The trial resumed Feb. 12 with witness testimony. Justice Anne London-Weinstein is the presiding judge.
Assistant Crown Attorney James Bocking is lead prosecutor and Forest Poff-Smith and Mark Huckabone of Huckabone Law are representing the defendant.
The trial is expected to run all week with final submissions expected next week.
