The future of the longstanding Deep River Summerfest in 2024 is in jeopardy due to a critical shortage of volunteers. This beloved festival, which has been a source of joy for the community for decades, is at risk without essential positions being filled.
Will Fitton, a member of the Summerfest Board of Directors since 2016 says how many volunteer members are needed for this festival.
Key roles that urgently need volunteers include chair, vice-chair, secretary, treasurer, as well as coordinators for entertainment, bar management, ball tournament, vendors, sponsorship, social media, and more. Fitton shared insights into the festival’s significance in an interview with myFM.
Fitton explains the rewarding experience of being part of the team that orchestrates the festival.
The annual general meeting is scheduled for March 6th, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. at The Bears Den in Deep River. Organizers are hopeful for a strong turnout, urging community members to attend and consider volunteering. The fate of the festival hangs in the balance, and without sufficient support, cancellation may be unavoidable.
