On January 29, 2024, the Petawawa council convened for a public meeting to discuss the proposed 2024 budget.
During the session, council members engaged in deliberations regarding the anticipated 2024 tax increase, ultimately settling on a 7% hike. The final decision on this increase is slated for the forthcoming council meeting. This proposed tax increase would translate to an additional $10.67 per month, or $128.04 annually, for residential properties assessed at $400,000.
The council is scheduled to reconvene next Monday to determine the course of action for three upcoming projects: the Murphy Road urbanization, Wolfe Ave sewers, and the Public Works Yard. The official announcement of the finalized 2024 budget is expected after the council meeting on February 5th, at 6:30 p.m., held at the Petawawa Town Hall.
