In a match-up where the Pembroke Lumber Kings could have gained ground on the first-place Smiths Falls Bears, a late greasy goal proved to be the difference. The Bears continued their success on the power play by scoring the lone goal with the man advantage in the first. Vital Dinis notched his 7th of the year on a rush at the 5:03 mark of the second to tie the game at 2. The Bears would answer back ten minutes later to carry a one-goal lead heading into the third. Sniper Cam Hicklin put his 9th of the year in the back of the net at 6:57 of the third to once again bring the score even. A bouncing puck that floated over the shoulder of goalie Kevin Jones at 17:23 would give the Bears the lead. Smiths Falls would then add an empty netter with 42 seconds remaining in regulation to seal the 4-2 win over Pembroke. Jones would be credited with 23 saves in the losing effort. The Kings remain in second place in the Robinson Division with 25 points in 21 games. Pembroke is back on the road tomorrow night to visit the Carleton Place Canadians, who sit one point behind the Kings in the standings. Game time is 7:30 and that’s a broadcast game here on myFM and at pembroketoday.ca.
