Another packed Pembroke Memorial Centre energized the Lumber Kings to their first win of the season. The Kings would go on to defeat the Carleton Place Canadians 5-3. Cam Hicklin, the leading goal scorer for Pembroke last season, netted a hat-trick. Ryan Parent scored his second of the season and Andrew Schmit notched his first to provide the offense for Pembroke. New to the Lumber King locker room, goaltender Phillip Rhodina arrived one hour before game time after being traded to the Kings by the Brockville Braves. Rhodina, a 6’3, 203-pound netminder was put to the test right away, making 38 saves in his Lumber King debut. Pembroke was desperate to get in the win column after falling 5-1 to Renfrew the night before, dropping to 0-3 to start the season. Now with a win under their belt, the Kings will prepare this week to meet the Brockville Braves on Friday night on the road. A game that can be heard right here on 104.9 myFM and pembroketoday.ca, beginning at 7:30.
