Get ready for the upcoming phase of a two-part project focused on replacing watermains in Pembroke’s Bennett Street, Boundary Road, and Taylor Bridge areas. RGT Clouthier Construction has been awarded the contract by the city council, amounting to approximately $3.3 million. This phase involves the installation of a brand new watermain along Boundary Road, starting from the existing watermain stubs located south of Bennett Street and north of Paul Martin Drive. Extensive restoration work will be carried out, including the addition of a paved shoulder and hydrants. The project funding is a collaboration between the federal and provincial governments, as well as the City of Pembroke. There have been some unexpected delays to the planned works and the intersection will continue to be closed to all traffic, no through traffic will be permitted.
Heavy truck traffic entering Pembroke from Highway 17 or Highway 41 should continue along Paul Martin Drive through the traffic signals at Mud Lake and Boundary Road East and follow the detour signage. You are also reminded that the businesses within the construction and detour zones, and along Boundary Road East, remain open for business.
