The town of Petawawa is taking extra caution when it comes to the intake of water from the Ottawa River to its water treatment plant, following the chinook helicopter crash early this morning. Town staff has since issued a watering ban for all non-essential watering. The move was made in response to potentially hazardous materials in the water due to the crash. The watering ban will remain in place until further notice. The City of Pembroke and township of Laurentian Valley are also asking residents to reduce water usage for the same situation. All splash pads will be closed until normal systems operations are restored.
The Drinking Water System is Producing Clean Drinking Water as usual. There are NO Drinking Water Quality Advisories currently in place. Further information will be provided as available.
