That’s local Clinical Psychologist, Doctor Alisha Hansen.
An irony is to thank veterans for their service, then snub their efforts at rehabilitation as existing veteran client files and future counselling services across the country are being transferred to two private corporations, including Lifemark- a division of Loblaw groceries.
Hansen says local clinicians feel the issue is threefold: contracting the service out puts it in the hands of those unfamiliar with, and perhaps unqualified to serve veterans needs.
Secondly, is seen as an attempt to undercut, and/or undervalue- and certainly underpay- clinicians who feel they have no alternative to transfer their skill-sets to the Lifemark group or WCG International, the other firm taking over.
Finally, the arrangements appear shrouded in secrecy with no effort to explain or justify the privatization. Despite the best efforts of local clinicians to find answers, nobody wants to talk with them or give the general public any rationale for the changes.
