Incoming Fire Chief Darryl Wagner (left) presents the retiring Dave Murphy (right) with his helmet as thanks for his 22 years of service to the community
Bonnechere Valley Fire and Rescue are saying farewell to their long time Fire Chief.
Dave Murphy clocked in for the final shift of his 22 year career this past Friday, March 10, as his announced retirement is now in effect.
Through their social media, the department notes that Murphy “stepped in as Chief at a time of instability” and supplied the leadership needed to get them “working as a cohesive team.”
Murphy’s time as Chief included dealing with historic flooding and the COVID pandemic, and his crew say he was there to carry the weight of all their successes and tragedies.
They go on to say Murphy is ready for a well deserved break after having spent over two decades splitting his attention between two 2 full-time jobs in his business and his duties with the fire service.
The Fire Department thanks Murphy for all he’s done and for always having their backs, adding the time and effort he put in has not gone unnoticed.
The Bonnechere Valley Fire and Rescue have announced Darryl Wagner return to the department as the new Fire Chief.
