The Colony Skate Shop & School located downtown Pembroke is hosting an open house for the Action Sports Park Development program at Algonquin College.
Co-owner of the skate shop, Tanner Hogan, says the open house is Friday, February 3rd, 2023, from 2:00pm to 3:00pm and will provide some more information about the program. The Action Sports Park Development program at Algonquin College in Pembroke is not offered anywhere else and by holding the open house Hogan wants to help boost enrollment.
Program Coordinator Cameron Dubé says students who graduate go on to work in various action sports parks all over the world.
In addition to learning about design, development, planning and management of action sports facilities like skate parks, mountain bike courses or ski/snowboard terrain parks, Dubé says students also learn about event planning, marketing and risk management.
If you’re not able to attend the open house on Friday, you can learn more about the Action Sports Park Development program at Algonquin College online, by following them on social media, or by contacting Cameron Dubé at 613-735-4700 ext. 2718 or by email at dubec@algonquincollege.com.
The Colony Skate Shop is located at 109 Pembroke Street West in the downtown core and offers skateboard lessons every day after school with a small three foot ramp, four foot bank and large flat spot to skateboard on indoors.
