An Special Investigation Unit has closed a case involving a man injured while being pursued by Upper Ottawa Valley OPP officer. Reports indicate that a 46-year-old man suffered a broken rib back on September 13th. Police say that the man was wanted on several arrest warrants, fled on foot upon seeing an officer in the area of Willard Street in Pembroke. For more than an hour, the man scaled fences, traversed a river, went up and down embankments and broke into at least two homes. The man was eventually apprehended and taken to hospital. Looking at the mans medical records, Director Martino was satisfied that the investigation should be discontinued. Saying that it was clear that the police did nothing to cause or contribute to the man’s injury.
