The Canadian Armed Forces are currently considered to be in a period of crisis due to low staffing levels. Colonel John Vass, the Commander of the 4th Canadian Division Support Group (4CDSG) at Garrison Petawawa, says across Canada they are short by about 10,000 soldiers for a force that’s normally over 70,000 people.
Colonel Vass talked about culture evolution to be more inclusive, diverse and welcoming.
The base commander says they’re also focused on recruitment and retaining members of the Canadian Armed Forces.

The annual Garrison Petawawa business luncheon held on November 24th laid out three priorities including culture change, protecting the force and connecting with communities. Colonel Vass says the business luncheon served as an opportunity for the Garrison to reconnect with members of the community.
