The education worker strike set for Monday will affect some, but not all, catholic schools in the area.
The Renfrew County Catholic District School Board has reached out to parents laying out who’s heading to school next week and who isn’t as negotiations between the province and the union covering its custodians and tradespeople have stalled.
In a recent email, the RCCDSB says 10 of the 21 schools under their watch will turn to online learning on Monday, November 24th barring a last-minute deal:
- St. Joseph’s Elementary, Arnprior
- St. John Bosco, Barry’s Bay
- St. Anthony’s, Chalk River
- St. Joseph’s High School, Renfrew
- St. Mary’s OLGC, Deep River
- St. Andrew’s, Killaloe
- Bishop Smith Catholic High School, Pembroke
- Holy Name & Valleycrest, Pembroke
- Our Lady of Lourdes, Pembroke
- St. Francis of Assisi, Petawawa
The RCCDSB says students at the affected schools will have access to school technology for remote learning if needed and more information will be available from the individual schools.
On top of that, community use of the affected schools will be cancelled except for before and after school programs if they choose to do so under their non-instructional day parameters.
If your school is not on the above list, it will not be affected by any potential strike action and will remain open with regular daily transportation.
