Bruce and Brenda Gillies have won first prize in the residential harvest display for their pumpkin people set-up.
The interactive display at 781 Murphy Road in Petawawa has a CD and when you press the button to start the music it sets off a chain reaction that includes a chicken playing a piano, a boy with a violin and a cow that kicks a pair of farmers.
Bruce says for every indication that someone has stopped by they will donate an item to the food bank. You can send pictures or videos dancing at the pumpkin people display and contact information is posted at the display site.
The idea for the display on Murphy Road came last year after the Petawawa Ramble. Gillies says they starting decorating around August 10th.
This is the second year in a row the Gillies have been recognized for their work setting up Pumpkin People in Petawawa as they were winners of the most unique display in 2021.
Local realtor, event sponsor and judge Cindy Sell says they have some unique displays and great community support.
